Smart Shipping Challenge 2017 SMASH! – Presented by Laurens Schrijnen, Rijkswaterstaat

Smart Shipping Challenge 2017 SMASH! – Presented by Laurens Schrijnen, Rijkswaterstaat at the Unmanned Cargo Ship Conference, which takes place on June 13, 2017, at Maaspoort, Venlo, The Netherlands.

The Netherlands is the most important country of Europe in terms of transport. Half of the European fleet is sailing under the Dutch flag. We are at the beginning of a new phase in inland navigation. Knowledge and skills will be and will stay crucial; technology will be more and more important. Think at remote controlled vessels, smart share of information, optimization of maintenance or even autonomous sailing. This gives opportunities to address and challenge issues as sustainability, safety and efficiency. All this we want to address in a demonstration; the Smart shipping Challenge 2017 SMASH! on November 30th 2017. Use the knowledge and experience of existing initiatives, technologies, knowledge institutes and commercial organisations to learn from each other and take advantage of working together at smart shipping. SMASH! supports innovation and competitiveness of the Netherlands in the sector of inland navigation (ship-owners, shipbuilders, charterers, researchers etc.)
