Professor James Scanlan presents at the UCA Conference: “Unmanned aircraft for transport in remote regions”. His talk will cover the history of UAVS made at Southampton (and the extensive use of rapid prototyping) as well as experience of designing and operating a large Maritime UAV.
James Scanlan will go through a future proposal for an unmanned cargo aircraft for remote regions.

“I worked in the aircraft industry (BAE and Airbus for 12 years before joining academia. I have an interest in design and co-direct the Rolls-Royce UTC in design at Southampton. We recently produced the “worlds first printed UAV at Southampton. We are now working on a number of large unmanned systems including maritime patrol. I am a qualified light aircraft pilot.”
