As an air freight policy manager of the European Shippers’ Council (ESC), Joost van Doesburg represents the air freight transport interests of business in Europe, whether they are manufacturers, retailers or wholesalers – collectively referred to as shippers. Members are drawn from national transport user organizations. The 100.000 shippers transport their goods by all five modes of transport, including airplanes. Joost van Doesburg strives to improve the position of the shippers within the air freight chain and to stimulate innovation in the sector. Besides his activities for the ESC Joost works for EVO, the Dutch Shippers’ Council, where he is responsible for air freight activities and in the past the European Affairs. Joost is a member of the city council in Teylingen. He is married and is a graduate of Leiden University and the University of Amsterdam with an MSc degree in Political Science (corporate social responsibility).
