Elroy Air is developing autonomous aircraft systems to deliver goods to the world’s most remote places. Powered by sensing and autonomy, their vertical-takeoff-and-landing (VTOL) cargo transport system will operate outside of airport infrastructure. Immediate relief in disaster and firefighting situations, commercial cargo delivery by air to replace long / inefficient truck routes, and rapid autonomous resupply for troops in the field. The founders and much of the team worked at early UAV companies in the Bay Area (3D Robotics, Airware), and the company is backed by venture financing. The Elroy Air team is currently completing the design of their full-scale aircraft and readying sub-scale prototypes for first flights.
This talk will cover both the technical and commercial aspects of the autonomous air cargo logistics system under development by Elroy Air. In addition to a discussion about the aircraft itself, prototypes of our cargo-handling robotics will be shown and discussed. Bring your questions and ideas! About Dave Merrill
Dave Merrill is a technology executive and hardware startup founder with a computer science and human computer interaction background (Stanford/MIT). His first startup was acquired by drone-maker 3D Robotics in 2014, where he led R&D and IP strategy. After serving as Entrepreneur-In-Residence at Lemnos, Merrill co-founded Elroy Air with Clint Cope to develop autonomous aircraft systems to deliver goods to the world’s most remote places. He is currently the CEO of Elroy Air.
