Kinga Kolasa-Sokolowska, Aviation Insurance Expert at THB Poland, presents at the UCA Conference: “Unmanned air transportation – Liability and insurance aspects of international delivery by UCA”.
Today, UAS are used in a wide range of civilian applications, but air transportation is not one of them. Therefore, the utilization of unmanned aircraft (UA) for the carriage of people is deemed to be a very remote possibility. The present policy, associated with general safety concerns, is to prohibit the commercial use of UA for the purpose of air transport. Notwithstanding, in the future, hand-in-hand with advancements in the technology and regulation, unmanned aircraft are envisioned to be adopted for the transport of goods. Needless to say, the adoption of unmanned technologies in the transport of goods will reshape air cargo industry. This presentation attempts to respond to the question whether the insurance market and international regime governing air carrier’s liability are ready for the coming changes.
